It doesn’t command the size audience that the movies do, or television, but I still think that somehow it’s at the matrix of a society in a way that I don’t think film and television ever are, certainly not television. Except of course when you get [a show] preceded by a stage production–something like Angels in America. And I think the impact of Angels in America on American society is going to be working itself out for many, many years to come.”
