“A consortium of magazine publishers including Time Inc. and Condé Nast are jointly building an online newsstand for magazines in multiple digital formats, according to people familiar with the plans.”
“Three longtime media executives are building an automated system to allow newspapers and magazines to charge for online access, including an ‘all you can read’ subscription that would allow access to multiple publications, the executives said on Tuesday.” The company is called Journalism Online, and among its founders is one Steven Brill.
The world’s largest music store, Apple’s iTunes, plans to boost the price of many hit singles and selected classic tracks to $1.29 on April 7, breaking the psychological barrier of 99 cents in what could be the first big test of how much consumers are willing to pay to download individual songs.
