A survey of Scottish arts institutions shows that few are equiped to serve deaf people. “It showed that although selected centres welcomed deaf and hard of hearing visitors, in some cases producing access guides, most failed to be sufficiently accessible.”
Cleveland Orchestra Close To New Contract?
The Cleveland Orchestra and its management have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract to replace the five-year contract that expired at midnight Sunday, according to spokespersons for the musicians and the Musical Arts Association, which runs the ensemble.
James Binger, CEO, Theatre Mogul
The former CEO of Honeywell, “for the last decades of his life, Binger was known as a man of the theater. He owned five Broadway theaters under the corporate name Jujamcyn — a moniker derived from the names of his children: Judith, James and Cynthia. He was an early supporter and a lifetime board member of the Guthrie Theater. Scottish Arts Council Calls For New Arts Minister
The Scottish Arts Council has called on the government to appoint a dedicated minister for the arts. “The council has about 100 employers overseeing some £60 million in arts funding a year. It laid out its ideas in a submission to the Scottish Executive’s Cultural Commission.”

“Yoko Ono has topped the US dance charts with a record backing gay marriage. The 71-year-old widow of John Lennon recorded Every Man Has A Man Who Loves Him to voice her support for the controversial issue. It is a new version of Every Man Has A Woman Who Loves Him, which she recorded nearly 25 years ago. Ono has also recorded a lesbian version of the song.”
